Sxssor

Meet. Date.
Make friends.
Find your people.

Sxssor is a social discovery platform for queer women, built for dating, friendship and finding your community, online and in real life.

Find people nearby based on what you’re looking for and what you’re into, discover local events and groups, or create your own. With verified profiles, safer ways to meet and Get Home Safe features, Sxssor is designed to make finding your people easier, wherever you live.

Dating is one part of it. It’s not the whole point.

Why we’re building it

Finding other queer women still feels harder than it should.

21

studies into queer women’s experiences on dating apps found recurring issues with unwanted men and couples entering queer spaces online, misleading profiles, harassment and safety.

Having worked in the dating app industry, we know a lot of work goes into keeping people safe on the app. The problem is what happens when you leave it. Once you move a conversation elsewhere or meet someone in person, there can be very little traceability if something goes wrong.

We want to build Sxssor differently.

We’re looking at mandatory ID verification for every member, alongside verified event hosts, clear reporting, human moderation and features such as Get Home Safe.

We want to make it much harder to create fake profiles, lie about who you are or simply set up another account after being removed.

You should be able to meet someone through Sxssor knowing there’s a real, verified person behind the profile — and that they can be found and held responsible for any misconduct.

More than dating

Maybe you want a girlfriend. Maybe you don’t.

Sxssor isn’t just for dating, and it isn’t something you should stop using when you’re in a relationship.

Maybe you want to go for a coffee or a drink and see who else is free. You might want someone to go to the cinema with, find a new running partner, meet more queer women where you live, or you might be in town with a few hours to spare and want to see who’s nearby.

Of course, you might also want to date.

Your profile lets you choose what you’re looking for, from dating and friendship to events, activities and meeting people with the same interests. People Nearby will also let you see who’s around you and open to doing the same things.

The point is to make it easier to find other queer women and actually do something together — whether that turns into a date, a friendship, a new group of mates or just a good afternoon.

People Nearby

See who’s actually around you and free to meet up.

There are probably far more queer women living nearby than you realise.

People Nearby helps you find them based on where you are, what you’re interested in and what you’re both looking for.

Maybe you’re open to dating. Maybe you want someone to go for a drink with tonight. Maybe you’re looking for people to run, ride, walk, eat, travel or go to gigs with.

You decide when you appear and what you’re open to, and your exact location is never shown.

Research into queer nightlife found that 77% of respondents felt the number of queer spaces in their area had fallen in recent years, while 82% said closures had affected their sense of community.

We want Sxssor to make it easier to find queer events, spaces and things to do where you live, not just in the biggest cities.

We’ll partner with existing queer event organisers, venues and local businesses to bring their events onto Sxssor, as well as running our own Sxssor socials and meet-ups. That could mean a big night out, a Sunday walk, drinks after work, a running club, dinner, cinema, coffee or something completely different.

Verified members will also be able to create their own meet-ups. If you want to start a book club, find a few people for a weekend hike or organise drinks locally, you’ll be able to put it on Sxssor and find people nearby who want to join.

We don’t want to replace the queer events and communities that already exist. We want to work with them, make them easier to find and help bring more of them to places where there currently isn’t much happening.

The idea is that when you open Sxssor, you can see who’s around, what’s on and what you could actually go and do.

Real people.
Proper accountability.

Identity verifiedVerified host

We want you to feel more confident about who you’re talking to.

One of the biggest frustrations is not always knowing whether someone is who they say they are. We’re exploring ID verification for Sxssor members, alongside verified event hosts, clear reporting and human moderation.

We want to make fake profiles and repeat accounts much harder to create, while keeping your personal information private from other members. Your ID and private details will never appear on your profile, and ID verification will be done via a government verification service — we will not store this data on our own servers.

You don’t need to know someone’s full identity yourself, but you should be able to trust that there’s a real, verified person behind the profile.

Finding your community is important for mental health

An app obviously isn’t going to solve loneliness overnight, but having people around you who understand you, knowing where you can go and feeling like you’re part of something can make a real difference.

Sxssor is about making more of those connections possible, whether they turn into a relationship, a friendship, a new group of mates or simply somewhere you feel you belong.

Help us build Sxssor

Joining now means you get a real say.

We have a clear idea of what we want Sxssor to be, but we also know we won’t get everything right on our own.

We want to know what you’d actually use, what you wouldn’t, what’s missing from the platforms you use now and what would make you come back to Sxssor regularly.

We’ll use that feedback as we test features, decide what makes the first version of the app and work out where we should launch first.
